AMS Announces Creation of Endowed Fund for Excellence at Auburn University
PILOT POINT, TX – April 1, 2009 – Advanced Microbial Solutions, LLC (AMS), a leading agricultural technology company, today announced that the Company will fund an Endowed Fund for Excellence at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. The fund will support research in the area of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) technologies to enhance fertilizer efficiency. The endowment establishes permanent funds for PGPR research at the university. AMS works closely with Auburn and other universities to conduct studies on the Company’s fertilizer catalyst platform and advance the study of microbial communities that benefit agriculture.
“We are pleased to strengthen our relationship with Auburn University,” said Dave Lanciault, President and CEO of AMS. “Our collaboration with Auburn and with other universities is essential for us to advance microbial science research and deliver the benefits of our findings to the agriculture industry.”
The AMS fertilizer catalyst platform consists of a mixed microbial community, together with microbial metabolites produced during a proprietary fermentation process. This platform differs from other PGPR-based products by nature of the diversity of the microbes and the presence of biologically active metabolites. The fermentation extracts from AMS’ biochemically complex microbial community have been shown to positively benefit both soil and plant growth functions.
